The Coastal Resources and Energy Assistance Act requires the Secretary of the Natural Resources Agency, after consulting with the California Coastal Commission and the State Lands Commission, to award grants to coastal counties and cities for specified purposes, including mitigation and permitting, consistent with the requirements of the state's coastal management program. Existing law authorizes the secretary to award specified funds not expended for those specified purposes for technical and financial assistance to coastal counties and cities with approved local coastal programs to help those counties and cities effectively exercise their responsibility for improving the management of the state's coastal resources, as specified. This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to that authorization.
