Existing law generally regulates telephonic sellers and requires a telephonic seller to register with the Department of Justice not less than 10 days before doing business in the state, as prescribed. Existing law defines "telephonic seller" for these purposes to mean a person who causes certain telephone solicitations or attempted telephone solicitations to occur, including a telephone solicitation or attempted telephone solicitation wherein the telephonic seller initiates contact with a prospective purchaser and represents or implies that the seller is a person other than the person they are. This bill would make a nonsubstantive change to that definition.
