Existing law, subject to certain exceptions, prohibits state and local law enforcement agencies, including school police and security departments, from using money or personnel to investigate, interrogate, detain, detect, or arrest persons for immigration enforcement purposes, as specified. This bill would state that it is the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation to create a fund that will serve as a vehicle for financial relief for immigrants suffering loss of employment as a result of being affected by immigration enforcement activities.
