Existing law establishes the policy of the state to modernize the state's electrical transmission and distribution system to maintain safe, reliable, efficient, and secure electrical service, with infrastructure that can meet future growth in demand and achieve certain objectives, including the deployment and integration of cost-effective advanced electricity storage and peak-shaving technologies, as specified. Existing law requires the Public Utilities Commission, in consultation with certain entities, to determine the requirements for a smart grid deployment plan consistent with that policy and federal law, as specified. This bill would repeal from those policy objectives the deployment and integration of cost-effective advanced electricity storage and peak-shaving technologies.
