Existing law involving invasive plants spans several codes, including, among others, the Food and Agricultural Code and the Public Resources Code. Existing law establishes the Invasive Species Council of California for the purpose of coordinating a comprehensive effort to prevent the introduction of invasive species in the state and to advise state agencies, including, but not limited to, the Department of Food and Agriculture and the Natural Resources Agency, within their respective authorities, how to facilitate coordinated, complementary, and cost-effective control or eradication of invasive species that have entered or are already established in the state. This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact subsequent legislation regarding invasive plant species.
